New for 2006, we are proud to present a clinic for your high school twirlers. Your students will enjoy a twirling workshop with demonstrations and clinic by the FSU Majorette Squad. Your students will benefit by observing our talented twirlers in rehearsals with the Marching Chiefs, in a special pregame performance, and at halftime during the FSU/Wake Forest football game. The date is November 11, so call (or have your baton instructor call) as soon as possible for details and reservations.

    Detailed information: FSU Majorette Workshop
    November 11, 2006.
    Featuring...

    * Demonstrations and workshop presented by the 2006 FSU Majorette Squad
    * A meal will be provided for all majorettes attending the workshop
    * Admission to the FSU/Wake Forest Football game where you will see the Marching Chiefs perform.
    * A complementary "FSU Majorette Day" t-shirt for each majorette attending the workshop.

Registration for the 2006 "FSU Majorette Day" workshop is by invitation only and there is a registration fee of $25.00 per student. Please contact Charlie Rankin by phone (850) 644-3507 or e-mail for more information. charlie.rankin@gmail.com

We want as many people to participate as possible; however space is limited so please respond quickly.

The workshop hours (starting and ending) will depend upon the kick off time of the FSU/WF game. Unfortunately, the game time has not been released. At this time, we envision the workshop beginning at 9:00 am and ending after the game. Please check the FSU Marching Chiefs website which can be found at http://marchingchiefs.fsu.edu for more information about the "FSU Majorette Day" workshop.

    Date: Saturday, February 24, 2007
Twirlers: 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Location: Goodwin Band Hall, Auburn University campus
Note: You must have applied and been accepted for admission to Auburn University prior to auditions.

Auditions are all held on the same day. Auditionees are encouraged to audition for two lines to better their chance of making the Tiger Eyes. They have the option to audition for all three lines. They will be asked to number their first and second choice, if they make more than one line. Results will be posted within 24 hours of the actual auditions.

Attire for All Lines of Tiger Eyes: Black leotards, flesh-colored tights and jazz shoes or dance tennis shoes. No boots or character shoes may be worn.
(Hair and make-up for all three lines should be completed as the individual candidate feels is most appropriate for a performance.)

Batons and flags for respective units as needed for your individual routine. Each candidate will provide her own cassette tape or CD (music of candidate's choice). The tape or CD should have 45 seconds of music or less for the audition routine. It is important to have a good tape/CD that is ready to start at the beginning to avoid delays to the auditions. A backup tape/CD is suggested. If your music does not work for some reason, you are to continue performing. Do not ask to start over with your routine.

The audition will be organized and scored in the following sections:

    * Individual Routines (45 seconds only)
    * Performance of Basic Skills and Travel (Demonstrated in small groups)
    * Learning of a Short Routines (Taught at auditions on both primary and secondary props: Twirlers=primary batons and secondary flags; Flags=primary flags and secondary poms; Dancers=primary poms and secondary flags)
    * Performance of Learned Routines (Demonstrated in small groups)

Requirements: Twirlers and flags are encouraged to incorporate dance steps into your routine. For Twirlers, the routine must include 30 seconds of one-baton and 15 seconds of two-baton twirling. No props, 3 (+) batons, hoops, streamers, knives, rifles, sabers, or other novelties allowed.

Twirlers: continuous thumb flips, figure eights, reverse figure eights, horizontal spins, vertical split fingers, forward and reverse wrist twirls, (all prior listed skills on both left and right); left hand back hand flips, horizontal split finger (rh only), left hand horizontal box car, horizontal one turn, verticle r to r back catch, one turn, two turn

If you have any questions, please contact us. Address inquiries to Jennifer Bell, Tiger Eyes Director, at belljen@auburn.edu

Optional Audition Clinic: Saturday, January 20, 2007 (10 AM to 2 PM)

Only first-time candidates may participate. If you intend to participate in the optional audition clinic, please email Jennifer Bell by Friday, January 12, 2007 and clarify for which line you will audition as your first choice.
